An Interview With Benjamin Yunk, M.D.

At Inspire Radiology, our success is shaped by the dedicated physicians on our team, including Dr. Benjamin Yunk. His path to Inspire began during residency at UMKC, where strong mentorship and meaningful friendships helped lay the foundation for his career. In this Q&A, Dr. Yunk shares what led him to join Inspire, how remote work has positively impacted his lifestyle, and why he believes the culture and support at Inspire make it a truly unique place to practice.

What motivated you to join Inspire Radiology?

I wanted to join Inspire Radiology as I was excited to join a team of radiologists that I met during my residency training at UMKC. Dr. Stroh was one of my attending physicians and a personal mentor. Through personal interactions during and outside of work, I found Dr. Stroh to be an excellent radiologist and even better person – bringing a new level of respect for our residents with respect to both our learning and training as well as our wellbeing. I was confident he would work to achieve the same for the Inspire Radiology team.

What is it like working at Inspire Radiology?

I love spending the majority of my time working from the comfort of my own home, being able to have a zero minute commute to work is wonderful. I like being able to finish my shift on time as scheduled when I have plans, or if I feel like taking on more studies for pay per click work when I’m not scheduled for a shift, being able to hop online for a few hours to help out the team.

How does the team support you in delivering high-quality care?

The Inspire administration team, credentialing team, and entire support staff are a tremendous help. They make being licensed in numerous states and credentialed in many hospitals a breeze. Our coordinators assist with communication with ordering clinicians during shifts as well as many other issues to keep our attention where it is most important-focusing on cases and providing the best care possible.

How would you describe the culture at Inspire Radiology?

Inspire has great team culture overall. Coordinating through Microsoft Teams, I never feel out of place when I want to run images by another radiologist for a potentially difficult case (or sometimes just an interesting one).

Has working here impacted your work-life balance or overall well-being? If so, how?

Being able to work from home the majority of the time has been amazing for work-life balance. “Clocking out” and walking straight into my living room is tough to beat. I can grab a coffee any time I have a couple of minutes during my shift. When traveling, the support staff makes things very straightforward and simple on our end.

How does Inspire support your professional goals?

My biggest hope is to continue to learn, stay up-to-date, and provide the best care possible. The support staff does a fantastic job of keeping the majority of my attention focused on each case during the workday as well as minimizing the amount of time I need to spend with licensing/credentialing outside of work so that I can be productive/study outside or work or spend the valuable time relaxing with family.

If you could tell a potential radiologist one thing about working at Inspire, what would it be?

We have an excellent team of radiologists as well as support staff and I am very happy being with our group. On a more technical note – having our own dedicated PACS system is a game changer for working remotely with multiple hospitals and the ease of which we can care for patients at many different sites is going to be difficult to beat.
